The ballot boxes are filling up as I write this and for many people election day is a day of deep anxiety. And I’m not referring to those whose names are on the ballots, or those working hard counting them.
I’m talking about the people casting the ballots!
It’s interesting to me how the exercise of a free citizen (in this case voting) can cause so much angst, excessive volume, anger, belligerence, and pertuberation, (if not a word it is now).
And I’m not talking about ‘all those other guys’.
I am often surprised at how many mild mannered, reasonable people become obnoxious at voting time. And I include myself in how easy it can be to get swept along with the tide of “we must win with our candidate or else we’re all doomed to hell in a hand basket.”
“This is the most important election of our lifetime”. I always think, of course it is. And that is because it is the one we are going to live with now, and in the near future, so it is essentially more important than every previous one.
However; and this is going to leave a mark. It isn’t the most important vote you have or will ever cast, nor is it the one that has final meaning.
Remember this from the bible? ’choose today, whom you will serve!” And the answer is?
You guessed it;Jesus!
And that is a vote that should be cast every day, over and over because His governance can be trusted totally, implicitly, eternally.
When you cast your ballot to be a child of God through Jesus, there really is nothing left to fret over. Even the barbarian horde burning down the walls of your city isn’t the end for you. The vote for Jesus puts you into eternal protection, peace, and provision. Your soul is safe.
This blog is just a reminder that if you didn’t get your guy or gal into office, fear not. “For the increase of his government and peace shall know no end.”
Cast your ballot for Jesus and you win.
He won escape and triumph over our fears of the future. He lives right now, governing perfectly from heaven and will return one day with a rule of righteousness where there will be no tears, night, pain, or death.
When you wake up the day after elections, whoever got in or out, nothing changed in heaven.
Today I vote for Jesus, King of Love.
Vote with me.
Peace and rest to you and yours,
