I met Jesus by surprise on the streets of my native Shetland Islands of Scotland. On my way home from a bar, there was a group of zealous Christians preaching in the rain. Their message gripped my heart, and I had a supernatural encounter with Jesus that day when I was born again and He freed me from the burden of my own sin and shame.

Later I trained for ministry studying Biblical Theology in England, and it was during that time I sensed the Lord Jesus calling me to be a missionary in South America.

After various pastoral roles in the UK and USA, I founded a missions nonprofit in 2006 serving in South America and the USA, and my wife Sari and I lived in Panama for four years. Later I directed two discipleship schools for adults, writing curriculum for both children and adults and teaching students who were learning to follow Jesus while holding down jobs and families.

Not all of my leadership was learned in church. I spent some years in construction and worked in international logistics in Houston, TX. Those years taught me that leading people well looks much the same on a job site as it does in a ministry: be a friend to the people you are following or leading.
